Jess - Member Journey
Meet Jess Zukowski
Jess started her strength training journey with no real intentions of becoming a powerlifter. She started working with Tommy 10+ years ago at Fitness First. At the time she was sick for a les mills class and made sure that her programming schedule would allow adequate time to still train 2-3 classes a week, she was even considering becoming an instructor because she loved it so much. Well its safe to say that didn’t last very long and a few years later she was competing on some of the biggest platforms in the worlds. She has competed in total 12 powerlifting competitions.
In 2019 Jess travelled to the US to compete at the invitational Boss of Bosses competition at Dan Greens facility where she placed 2nd and at the Invitational Kern US Open where she placed 3rd. She also won her weight class at GPC nationals 3 years in a row competing in both the 52 kg and 56 kg weight classes. All whilst competing each year at ProRaw between 2017-2019 where she would go up a weight class and compete in the under 60’s.
Her first sanctioned competition was GPC State Championships in 2016 where she put up the following numbers in the 52kg weight class:
Squat - 115 kg
Bench - 50 kg
Deadlift - 122.5 kg
Total - 287.5 kg
Her best “offical” competition results were performed at Boss of Bosses in 2019 where she put up:
Squat - 185 kg
Bench - 90 kg
Deadlift - 195 kg
Total - 470 kg
Jess was at her peak strength and was due to compete in the 2020 ProRaw competition, days before the event they cancelled the competition so we held an “unofficial” competition at Strength Tribe and she put together a 500 kg total under comp conditions, made up of:
Squat - 195 kg
Bench - 102.5 kg
Deadlift - 202.5 kg
Total - 500 kg
Jess has recently had her first baby and is being the best mum so she has no powerlifting competitions on the horizon. However word on the street is that she wants her next comp to be a 450kg plus total.
Amazing progress and journey Jess, thanks for trusting us with your Coaching and Physiotherapy!
